Wellness at Home

Your surroundings can affect your mood, emotions, and overall sense of wellbeing. It’s exactly why so many of us try to create space we love. Our living spaces can bring us comfort, especially during cancer treatments

Here are some ways you and your loved ones can incorporate wellness at home.

1. Add Houseplants and Fresh Flowers

Easy to maintain indoor plants are an affordable way to add visual interest to your home, while boosting your mood and creating a sense of wellness. Succulents are a great choice as well as indoor palms. If you have pets, be sure to purchase safe plants for furry friends.

Plants not your thing? How about growing some edible herbs or picking up some fresh flowers from your local farmers market or grocer.

2. Create Comfort

Comfort is key when you’re not feeling your best during cancer treatments. Try to incorporate softer fabrics in your bedroom and favorite lounging spots. Throws are easy to clean and perfect for layering if you get cold. Be sure to add extra pillows to your bed for support.

3. Display Sentimental Items

Display photographs, mementos, and pieces of art throughout your home. Surround yourself with things that bring you joy. Sentimental items spark memories and remind us of relaxing vacations, fun family gatherings, and special moments. We recommend displaying a favorite photo on your nightstand along with fresh flowers for a mood boost throughout the day.

4. Create a Spa Experience

Turn your bathroom into a spa of sorts. You deserve to feel your best, especially when cancer may have you feeling your worst. Treat yourself to luxury soaps, facial masks, bath salts, and lotions during this difficult time. Find products that make you feel good.

One of the easiest ways to create a spa experience is with essential oils. You can diffuse them or add them to your shower. You may also opt for fragrant candles. We highly recommend soy candles, which typically burn cleaner than paraffin options. Lastly, splurge on a set of soft towels. A great towel makes a big difference.
